Rules worth knowing before a deposit

  • The contract names one entity.The company on the quote, the licence holder and the ABN should be the same. A similar trading name can hide a different company.
  • Home warranty cover in Queensland.Most residential building work in Queensland over A$3,300 needs Queensland Home Warranty Scheme cover.
  • The deposit is capped.Up to 10% for contracts of A$3,301 to A$19,999. Up to 5% from A$20,000. Up to 20% when more than half the work is off site.
